Biography

In his approach to counseling college-bound students, Jesse Gonzalez draws from a depth of experience in both academics and athletics. Jesse holds a Masters degree in educational counseling from the University of Redlands, and prior to becoming an independent college advisor, he was a counselor at Torrey Pines High School. There he provided guidance to help students achieve their academic goals and enjoyed great success in helping students with all aspects of gaining admissions into college, including the country’s top institutions.

In a challenging environment that placed high demands on counselors with large caseloads, Jesse learned the importance of individual attention to students and their families. Now, as an independent counselor, he enjoys devoting quality time to his students and distinguishes his services through his accessibility combined with his in-depth knowledge of the college admissions process.

For student-athletes, Jesse’s background in athletics enables him to provide the guidance they need to help them realize their dreams of playing a sport in college. In addition to being an independent college counselor, Jesse is currently a coach at the San Diego Surf Soccer Club. There he coaches elite soccer players whose goal is to play at the collegiate level. As a recruited athlete himself who went on to play soccer at California State University San Bernardino, Jesse is very familiar with the recruitment process. He also brings the perspective of a college coach to the table when counseling student-athletes. Upon graduating from CSU San Bernardino, Jesse worked as the assistant coach for women’s soccer and lacrosse at the University of Redlands.

“I really like that my family and I can get in touch with Jesse easily whenever we have a question. His personal attention during this time when we’re anxious about whether we’re doing all the right things to get ready for college is reassuring. That’s why my family chose him to be my college counselor.”
